Project:
Elektron, Docklands

The Elektron Development site is situated on the north side of the River Thames directly opposite the Millennium Dome. Above 4-5 storeys, the site enjoys fantastic panoramic views of Canary Wharf to the west and the river to the south. The opportunity to exploit these views has generated a design of one 25 storey building and two 22 storey buildings providing 437 apartments.
Tower 1 is orientated on an east west axis, creating a public plaza in front of the building and opening up the site to link with the Docklands Light Railway concourse. Towers 2 and 3 are orientated on a north south axis, responding to the local urban grain. The Greenwich Meridian line bisects the site linking the site and the river front. The Meridian line is marked with an art piece on Tower 1 adding a distinct identity to the scheme. Planning consent was granted in May 2005 and construction is now underway using innovative pre-fabrication techniques.
The project won the British Homes Awards 2007 Innovation Award for Building Technology.

Charing Cross Hospital has patients from the London Boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hounslow and Hillingdon. Maggie’s Centre London is conceived to contrast with the main hospital building. The aim is for it to be a ‘non-institutional’ building, an open house of 370 square metres, arranged over one and a half floors. The kitchen is the heart of the structure. The intention is to create something that is more than a house - more welcoming, more comfortable, more thought-provoking and more uplifting.
